The Program

Wild Seed Poetry & Arts Collective aims at hosting retreats, conferences, and programs for black women and writers, cultivating a community for personal development and acting as a center for black literature.

Retreats

Writing retreats/workshops dedicated to black and/or women writers and artists of color, inclusive to a variety of styles, experimentation and genres.

Conferences

Located in southern California, focused on craft talks, professional development, for the stage and page, and exhibitions of people of color.

Projects

Ongoing durative projects as a lasting hub of black literature and arts, as well as a collective and community space for writers, poets, and artists of color.

The Stages of Growth

We aim to help develop writers and artists, our own seeds, develop through our workshops in four stages of growth:

Sewing

Let's get in the ground. Prompts, timed writing, challenges, inspiration, and writing games to help you get started. If you are stuck or need a boost of energy from the muse then join us. No cheat challenges! That's right no old work allowed (don't be scared, we got you). Praise, laughter and joy, mandatory.

Nurturing

Let's feed you. Here we take the time to do deep readings on creative work by critique. To critique is NOT to criticize, fix, or judge but honor what's on the page or performed. Let's do a deep dive into what you are doing. We see you, fam; we want to help your creative work do its thing and shine.

Reaping

Let's share with the world! Submitting to journals? We got you. Putting together a collection? We doing it. Performing a set? We moving. Self-publishing? We here. Learn how to be an artist and market yourself. Opportunities, information, events, and professional development. Let's get you in the biz.

Tilling

Getting that book or doing that performance is not enough sometimes to be an artists. It's not over! We need to highlight each other by writing blurbs, interviewing each other, and creating a community of practice FOR each other for promotion. We in this together. We love you, let's let the world know.
